OSCARS -- My Picks

As Everyone knows I am a super huge movie nerd. I love going to the theatre and watching my Blu-Rays. Typically I do not like the Oscars, mostly because the movies, actors, and what not I would like to see win, and typically should have won, do not. And what wins...some stupid piece of crap, then that piece of crap gets over-hyped, then I watch said over hyped piece of crap...thus coming to my conclusion...that it is in fact a giant turd that someone slung together and calls "art."...but whatever...here are my picks.

I will not say why, if you know me you will know why...if you want to know why...you can ask! Also, if there is category not listed that means I do not care about said category.

NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS -- QUARTERFINALS PREDICTIONS

I am no sports guru, just a guy who has been following hockey his whole life.  With this being said my predictions come from my gut and my heart; aka my intuition.  Very little of my picks will come from how this season went, because let’s face it; what happened in the regular season means CRAP in the playoffs.  I am also not a journalist or English/Grammar major, so if there are any spelling or grammar errors…get over it!

Quarterfinals – Predictions
For the Quarterfinals I will not go into too much detail on why I am picking them, I will leave it for the next 3 rounds.  I will leave some comments for each match up.  If you need more reasons…that is what the comments section is for!
East
#1 Washington Capitals vs. #8 Montreal Canadians
In my un-official opinion the Habs have no chance against the Caps.  The Caps have all the fire power and defense.  Even though, some professional sports/NHL commentator types, have said the Caps were goalie challenged, I do not believe that will be an issue for them in the first round.  Caps in 4.
#2 New Jersey Devils vs. #7 Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers got into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth.  The Devs will squash the Flyers period.  Devs in 4.
#3 Buffalo Sabres vs. #6 Boston Bruins
This is one of two match ups that I will call THE BATTLE OF THE GOALIES!  Miller vs. Rask!  I feel without Savard in the lineup for the B’s the Sabres will ultimately take this one.  Sabres in 7.
#4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #5 Ottawa Senators
I could call this one a clean sweep for the Pens, but I think the Sens will win one of their home games.   Pens in 5.

West
The west is always tuff, especially this year!  All the teams are excellent and it can go anyway.
#1 San Jose Sharks vs. #8 Colorado Avalanche
Sorry Sharks but your continued suck-age in the post season will continue.  I believe the AVS will continue their told you so, hahaha you doubted us – idiots…season…AVS in 7.
#2 Chicago Hawks vs. #7 Nashville Predators
This is upset pick one of two.  I think the Preds will just break down the Hawks and surprise them.  Even though the smart and probably wise choice should go to the Hawks, but I like the underdogs for this one. The Preds in 7.
#3 Vancouver Canucks vs. #6 Los Angeles Kings
This is my upset pick two of two.  Even though the Canucks are a very strong team, especially with the Sedin twins (Henrik winning the Art Ross Trophy this year for the most points) and Luongo in goal, I just see the Kings taking this series.  The Kings in 6.
#4 Phoenix Coyotes vs. #5 Detroit Red Wings
This is two of two for THE BATTLE OF THE GOALIES! Bryzgalov vs. Howard.  I guess this could be another upset pick, since it seems like everyone in the NHL commentator world think the Wings have this one.  I read twitter post from one of them that said Wing in 4…what a joke!  The Coyotes have given a big FU to all the doubters around the league, and I like it!  So, I think it will continue!  Yotes in 5.

As for whom I would love to see in the Stanley Cup round…AVS or Yotes vs. Pens or Caps.   With either the AVS or Yotes winning…I will update this as each round completes.
